“The Day of Russian Culture” was held at TOBB University of Economics and Technology of Ankara
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey Andrey Karlov participated in “the Day of Russian
Culture”, which was held on March 25, 2014, in University of Economics and Technology of the Union of Chambers and
Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
During the event the Ambassador met with the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Ihsan
Sezal and representatives of teaching staff of the University. They discussed issues of cooperation between Russian and Turkish educational institutions, the development of joint educational programs and the expansion of student exchange.
The Russian ambassador gave a lecture to the students of TOBB University of Economics and Technology who learn
Russian language. He spoke about the current situation in trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Turkey. Mr.
Karlov noted that boost of investment activity of Russian and Turkish companies in the markets of the two countries
creates a need for professionals who speak Russian.
The Russian Ambassador particularly informed Turkish students about the latest events in Ukraine and about the
consolidation of Crimea with Russia. He stressed the correspondence of conducted referendum on the peninsula and its
subsequent affiliation with the Russian Federation to all international rules. Mr. Karlov told about programs to
improve the status and to the rehabilitation of the Crimean Tatar nation.
