Second session of the Russian-Turkish tourism working group

The second session of the Russian-Turkish tourism working group established in the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation took place in Antalya on June 11, 2009.The Russian delegation was headed by the Deputy Head of the Federal tourism agency A.Radkov and also included the representatives of the Russian higher educational institutions and business circles. The Turkish side was represented by the Deputy Minister of tourism and culture Sh.Basher along with heads of relevant departments of the Ministry, the Federation of hotels of Turkey and the Turkish tourism investment association. The work of the group was joined by the Consul General of Russia in Antalya M.Husanov.

The participants closely looked into and discussed the dynamics of the Russian-Turkish relations in tourism. They paid special attention to the issues of security, safety, insurance of the Russian tourists in the Turkish resorts as well as the rights of the Russian citizens working in the tourism sector of Turkey.

While discussions the Turkish side expressed interest in investment projects in Russia, in particular, in construction of tourism facilities in Sochi and other regions. This issue was agreed to be further raised for talks at the International conference on the development of resorts and tourism infrastructure in the Black sea which will take place within the framework of the BSEC this autumn.

The parties agreed to establish two expert groups comprised of business representatives who will regularly report to the Tourism working group. One of the group will deal with security and insurance issues, another one – with marketing, transport and education.

The both sides decided to start the review of the existing legal base in tourism.
