Talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babajan
Talks took place on February 20 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Babajan, who is in Moscow on an official visit.
The ministers discussed priority issues in Russian-Turkish relations in the political, trade-and-economic and humanitarian fields and the prospects for their further development with a view to taking them to the level of an advanced many-sided
partnership. In this connection both sides underscored the importance of maintaining the high dynamics of the summit and high-level dialogue and of keeping up the vigorous inter-MFA cooperation.
Lavrov and Babajan held a frank exchange of views on a number of topical issues on the regional and international agenda, including the situation in Iraq and the Middle East, the state of affairs in the Black Sea region and Transcaucasia, Cyprus
and Kosovo settlement problems and also certain other issues of mutual concern.
In the framework of the visit, the sides signed a Protocol between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey on the Introduction of Amendments to the Consular Convention between the USSR and the Republic of Turkey of April 27, 1988.
