President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to Ahmet Necdet Sezer, President of the Republic of Turkey, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Foundations of Relations Between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey, which the Russian President called "the fundamental document for the development of Russian-Turkish relations."

The message notes: "Over the ten years of the existence of the Treaty weighty results have been achieved in strengthening and expanding Russian-Turkish ties in the political, trade-and-economic and other fields. The Treaty became the starting point for successfully advancing work to develop the multipronged partnership between our countries."

Vladimir Putin expressed the confidence that relying on the rich experience of bilateral cooperation, Russia and Turkey will continue to make their contribution to the cause of strengthening peace and stability.
