Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov Meets
with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ismail Cem
On April 27 in Moscow Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ismail Cem, who took part in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Back Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
In the course of the talk the ministers discussed certain aspects of bilateral relations, in particular, laying stress on the need to organize closer and more efficient cooperation between the two states in fighting terrorism. Igor Ivanov and Ismail Cem condemned the recent hostage-taking by terrorists in an Istanbul hotel.
The sides also had a useful exchange of opinions on some of the more topical aspects of regional problems and on the further development of bilateral economic ties.
